Two Unforgettable Days Volunteering at North Shore Animal League America
At East Coast Capital, making a positive impact is at the core of who we are. This year, our team had the unique privilege of volunteering not just once, but twice with North Shore Animal League America—the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. Each volunteer day brought new experiences, memories, and opportunities to support the incredible work done by North Shore. Here’s a look back at our meaningful adventures
December: Welcoming Puppies Home for the Holidays
On December 4, 2024, six members of our team braved the winter chill for an experience unlike any other: we helped deliver a group of over 40 puppies that had just arrived from Texas. These puppies were beginning their journey toward forever homes, and it was heartwarming to play a direct role in their transition.
Alongside the puppy deliveries, we spent quality time with individual dogs needing some extra love and playtime, including those recovering from surgery or illness. Many of these animals don’t always get one-on-one attention, especially when they’re in medical areas awaiting procedures or healing. To be able to offer them comfort and affection was truly special.
A tour of the shelter gave us insight into the adoption process and the significant work North Shore does daily. We heard inspirational stories about the shelter’s connections with generous supporters, including Billy Joel, Howard and Beth Stern, and Rachael Ray, as well as their collaborations with media outlets like PIX11, Fox 5, GMA, and Buzzfeed.
Feedback from our team was overwhelmingly positive. Many described the event as both therapeutic and meaningful—a chance to make a difference while supporting one another. We were honored when North Shore’s Corporate Relations Manager shared online:
“So appreciative of the volunteer work today from the team at East Coast Capital! So important in helping us find forever loving homes for our rescue animals, especially during this Holiday season! Thank you so much!”
Kathleen Lynn, Director of Communications at North Shore, also took to LinkedIn:
“Proof that giving back feels great. And that adoptable animals make everything better. Great teamwork between East Coast Capital and North Shore Animal League.”
Summer: Big Group, Bigger Hearts
Our commitment to North Shore only grew deeper. On June 10, 2025, President Seth and our marketing team returned to the shelter to present a $25,000 donation, supporting their lifesaving work for animals in need. This visit also marked the beginning of Seth’s training for the NYC Marathon, where he’ll be running for Team Animal League this fall and raising additional funds to help animals find loving homes.
We returned as a larger group on July 30, 2025, this time accompanied by two members of our leadership team. This summer experience was just as rewarding, but in different ways. We had the chance to split up and assist in both the beautiful cat building and the puppy areas. It was a joy to witness so many successful adoptions that rooms were nearly empty—a testament to North Shore’s effectiveness in finding loving homes.
We also learned more about the intake and adoption processes, broadening our appreciation for the shelter’s multifaceted efforts. To see the direct impact of our volunteering on both the animals and ourselves was inspiring.
